Antislip Plus® decking from Marley Eternit has been used to create a series of eye-shaped walkways on South Shields main beach. Along with these walkways, the new decking includes a central boardwalk that leads to the sea, providing holiday makers and visitors with a safe, pleasant walking surface.
Antislip Plus® decking was able to address all the client’s issues because, even when wet, it provides a safe, slip resistant surface. Antislip Plus® significantly exceeds the minimum requirement for ‘low potential for slip’ in both wet and dry conditions.
The timber deck boards were manufactured from kiln dried European Redwood, carefully selected to BS 4978:2007 strength class C16. It is vacuum preservative treated and is unique in carrying a 25 year guarantee against wood rotting fungi and insect attack.
Two grey Antislip Plus® inserts were specified for the decking used at South Shields beach.
