Edmund Street in Camberwell is a regeneration scheme for Notting Hill Housing that is being developed by Ardmore Construction and will create 279 new homes. The mix of private, social and affordable housing is arranged in ten blocks ranging from three to seven stories in height.
There is a broad mix of residential types, ranging from apartments and duplex units to family houses, all achieving Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
The guiding concept for the scheme was to reconnect streets to the surrounding area, providing new, safe pedestrian links and integrated public amenity spaces at key locations. Clearly defined private amenities are also created within private landscaped courtyards, communal roof terraces and generous balconies.
Homes have been developed using a mix of building types and a variety of heights, with variations in roof forms, materials and textures utilised to create a varied street scene built around defined character areas.
Ardmore had a choice of flooring materials for balconies and communal roof terraces and chose decking.
Why Standard timber deck boards?
Standard castellated decking was chosen, and more than 14,000 linear metres of 28 x 145mm C16 was ordered because it is a high-quality structural timber deck board that uses kiln-dried European redwood.
It has a multispan range of 290mm, which makes it ideal for balconies and other outdoor spaces.
Standard timber deck boards can be treated to Use Class 3 (UC3) MicroPro® or UC4 (Naturewood®) to suit individual project requirements.
Joe Pitt of Enfield-based contractors Ardmore Construction Ltd said: “Marley Eternit provided lots of technical data, so it was easy to identify the right grade of decking for the balconies and communal areas for this project.
Ardmore is extremely satisfied with the communication, assistance, product and overall customer care provided by Marley Eternit. I would recommend the company on future works where this product type is required.”
Standard timber deck boards are available in both castellated and smooth profiles and are especially suitable for balcony decks or for matching with Antislip Plus® or CitiDeck® in areas that don’t require antislip boards.
